Melanie is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work delves into the subjects of death, metamorphosis and liminality through the mediums of sculpture, mask making and performance. The essence of her work lies in witnessing the disintegration of one form melding seamlessly into another—whether plant, animal, or human—until the body gracefully merges with the earth. Within this realm, equality prevails as our decay becomes the fertile ground for regeneration, birthing new forms and embracing fresh life.
Melanie’s work extends beyond the rebirth itself, navigating the liminal space where forms hover between identities, neither fully one entity nor another. Each piece emerges as meditation on death, meticulously crafted through an intimate engagement with natural materials. Their essence intertwines with her creative process, an inseparable symbiosis that gives birth to these visual narratives.
