I am an illustrator, printmaker and poet. Since completing my MA in Digital Image and Media from University of Bolton, I have increasingly developed visual poetry in a project called Seeing Poetry.  This began as comics and more recently as shape poems in The Toy, a children’s poetry magazine. Much of my writing for children is non-fiction and nature based.

My First Degree was in Geography, specialising in Pedology (soils) and ecology. I taught Geography to high school students for many years. I have also worked as Events and Gallery Manager at West Yorkshire Print Workshop, which included art open days for adults and children.

I have led workshops in poetry with illustrations, comics and printmaking in schools and galleries. I have recently illustrated teacher resources for the Poetry Society for some new lessons for children to write poems about bogs and moss.

With the Peat Appreciation Society, I am looking forward to field trips to meet peat and moss experts to further inform my poetry and artwork. I am hoping to use this information as inspiration for some visual poems which I will display as gallery pieces. Workshops in schools or the gallery could be based on these. I would also like to design a simple postcard type resource for exhibition visitors to produce their own poem on, which could be displayed in the gallery.
